Google Looks at Authorship

How will Authorship Impact Google Search Results?

Google has long based its search results on three important criteria:

  1. Links to your Website from reputable sites
  2. On page content with solid keywords
  3. Proper Website coding for SEO

The importance of the content writer is a fourth area now starting to be a part of Google’s search emphasis. Google is looking at the author’s impact and relevance to the search term as a factor in search engine results.

Blogs and online content are driven by individual writers and Google is beginning to recognize that some authors carry more weight than others. This means content without an author will have less impact in Google search results as Google will give priority to popular content writers over anonymous writers.

Avoid using generic content or an anonymous company writer for blogs, articles and other Website content. Develop content from an area of expertise in your company and support your company brand with content experts that can grow search results in Google. This is inline with the Website visitors’ needs and their intent to connect with content written by a real person.
